Our group class for those with Parkinson’s Disease is a specially designed program tailored to improve both mobility and function.
Providing both educational and practical components, this class has been designed for those who suffer from the early stages of Parkinson’s Disease and wish to be proactive about their mobility and function.
Our program includes the following:
- Individualised baseline measurement
- Home Program
- A supervised exercise program by an accredited exercise physiologist
- Ongoing education and advice on how you can take charge of your symptoms
What is Parkinson’s Disease?
It is a complex progressive degenerative condition, which affects the control of body movements and balance.
How does exercise help?
Research has proven exercise in conjunction with medication to be effective in improving physical function, leg strength, walking and balance.
Exercise can have the greatest assistance in the early stages of the condition.
How can we and our Parkinson’s classes help you?
The class is a combination of traditional strength-based exercises and specific neuro-based exercises. Recent studies in Parkinson’s disease have shown that speed of movement and how big the movement is such as boxing are beneficial in improving aspects of function as well as improving quality of life.
Through the educational components of the class, you will discuss a series of things that you can do to best protect & manage falls risks. You will discuss healthy lifestyle habits and choices.

- Improved balance and co-ordination
- Decrease in freezing
- Improved stride length and decreased shuffling gait
- Reduced risk of falls
