There are 1.2 million Australians with communication disability, however communication disability remains largely invisible, unseen and out of sight.
The theme this year is Good Communication, Better Communities
Communication is a basic human right and without support from a speech pathologist many Australians cannot participate fully in the social, educational, economic, and sporting aspects of our community.
Australians with communication difficulties communicate with others using a variety of ways, including sign language, electronic speech devices and/or word/picture-based communication boards or books.
Communication by definition involves at least two people. It is important that everyone understands and respects that communication is more than just speech.
To raise awareness we at Coral Coast Physiotherapy and Allied Health Clinic are providing visuals to local businesses to help support them in creating a communication accessible environment.
We will provide local businesses with visuals including communication boards, bracelets, lanyards and name tags to create communication accessible environments.
